Marketing Team

Beth Labuskes

Marketing Director

I grew up just west of the Queen City in Gastonia, but consider myself a native Charlottean (I mean, that counts, right?). I attended UNC-Chapel Hill where I studied Journalism and went to Georgetown for graduate school where I received my Masters in Sports Management. My work background has primarily been in marketing and advertising in a variety of industries. I worked for five+ years at a local ad agency and most recently worked for Crescent Communities, a commercial real estate developer based here in Charlotte.

My husband, Mark, and our two young boys, Max, and Rhett, now live in South Charlotte with our two rescue pups. I’m a big fan of the outdoors, Panthers football, Tarheel basketball, hot yoga, and Juicy Jay.

Q: Why do you like working in real estate?
A: I think all real estate is fascinating. I loved learning about commercial real estate in my previous role, but I’m looking forward to working on the residential side of things and helping people find the next place that they will call home.

Q: What do you love about Charlotte?
A: Growing up, I remember making the trek to Charlotte every week to visit my grandparents who lived in Myers Park. Even as a child, I noticed the gradual changes to the skyline that started to happen as we inched closer towards the millennium. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill, I moved back to Charlotte, and, aside from two years out West and in Washington, D.C., this has been the city I have called home for 12 years. It’s been amazing to watch this city grow into itself, but even more amazing to see the people – Native Charlotteans or not – embrace it.

Q: Something no one would guess about you?
A: I’m a pretty solid basketball player. I played all throughout high school and on AAU teams in the summer. Even though I’m short and not that fast…I was a pretty good point guard back in the day.

Kristen Piedmont

Marketing Graphic Designer

I was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina and have spent the last four years after college in the gorgeous city of Charleston. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Graphic Communications from Clemson University. Go Tigers!

I recently got married to my husband, Greg, and have relocated to Charlotte. I love going to Clemson football games, traveling, hiking, photography, and shopping at Target.

Q: Why do you like working in real estate?
A: Though I’m new to the Charlotte market, I have worked in the marketing department of a real estate firm in Charleston the last four years. I love being able to help agents market themselves through well-designed pieces.

Q: What do you love about Charlotte?
A: I absolutely love the neighborhoods the city has and that they’re all distinctly unique. There always seems to be something to do…it’s a very lively city!

Q: Something no one would guess about you?
A: I’ve seen all 37 seasons of Survivor and can quote 99% of The Parent Trap.

Nicole Hannon

Marketing Coordinator

I’m from Eastern North Carolina and settled into Charlotte, because of my ballet career, in 2011. I’ve adored watching our beautiful city evolve throughout my years here. Eager to become a part of the Queen City’s growth, I eventually transitioned into Real Estate.

When I’m not working at Cottingham Chalk or teaching Pilates, you can find me outside on a bike.

Q: Why do you like working in real estate?
A: Real estate is ever-changing, which makes for a lively work environment!

Q: What do you love about Charlotte?
A: I love that every neighborhood surrounding Uptown feels completely different – each one has a different look, culture and vibe.

Q: Something no one would guess about you?
A: I can say the alphabet backwards!

Relocation Team

Suzanne Lail

Relocation Director

I’m originally a beach girl from Wilmington who moved to the “big city” of Charlotte after college. Not long afterwards, I met my future husband, got married, raised two wonderful daughters, and now we love being empty nesters!

In 1983, John Chalk introduced me to a local custom home builder who needed an administrative assistant which started my career in real estate. And 20 years later I came to work for John Chalk and Dan Cottingham at Cottingham Chalk & Associates! It’s been exciting to serve in the past as their Marketing Director, Developer Services Administrator and since 2014 as the Relocation Director.

When I’m not connecting buyers and sellers with Cottingham Chalk agents, I enjoy exercising at the Harris YMCA, running, reading on the beach, and spending time with family. I’m active in several professional organizations and volunteer on numerous committees at our church.

Q: Why do you like working in real estate?
A: Serving in the relocation industry has been tremendously rewarding as I have daily opportunities to develop corporate and broker-to-broker business for the agency.

Q: What do you love about Charlotte?
A: Charlotte is a big city with a small town feel. And being located 3 hours from the beach and 2 hours from the mountains makes it easy to plan a quick getaway!

Q: Something no one would guess about you?
A: When the Carolina Panthers played the Dallas Cowboys in a playoff game, my then coworkers and I dressed in black and white “jailbird” uniforms at the game and our picture appeared on the sports page of many large newspapers.

Melissa Alatsis

Relocation Coordinator

I grew up in Northeast Georgia and spent all my summers swimming and skiing on Lake Rabun at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I attended the University of Georgia and earned my degree in Marketing Education.

I had family in the Charlotte area who I would visit during my time in Athens, GA. After my first visit, I knew that Charlotte would be the city in which I would make my home. I have now been here for ten years, married here, and bought a home with my husband here. We love living in Dilworth and walking our Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Basil, around the neighborhood.

With my background in marketing and customer service, I have a unique blend of skills to help with all your relocation needs.

Q: Why do you like working in real estate?
A: My favorite aspect of working in the real estate industry are the relationships that you form and the personal impact that you can have on someone’s life. It is especially important in relocation to help ease the home buying/selling process and to offer our client’s peace of mind during this life event.

Q: What do you love about Charlotte?
A: I love that it is a city, with a small-town feel. I especially love all the greenways, flowers, and trees that are a part of our cityscape.

Q: Something no one would guess about you?
A: I attended cosmetology school and worked in the industry in various roles for over fifteen years.

I have had the pleasure of gaining experience in all areas of operations including administration, technology and currently Office Manager. Obviously, there is something that has kept my interest about the real estate industry to stay in it for 36 years!

Born and raised in northern Ohio I am the oldest of five children. Arrived in Charlotte via Pittsburg, PA, then Badin, NC to Albemarle, NC. I have a daughter, two sons, two daughters-in-laws, 7 lovely granddaughters and one grandson! I love spending time with my family, going to the beach, reading and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Q: Why do you like working in real estate?
A: I was interested in real estate because when we arrived in Charlotte in 1982 we had lived in 8 different houses. Realizing that I was not a sales person, working in a real estate office and helping agents sell homes to families was and is the best for me.

Becky Price

After staying at home with my children for 17 years I have spent the last 2 years working at Cottingham Chalk. Prior to that, I was in the insurance industry on the corporate (claims) side then the brokerage side, specializing in employee benefits.

I moved to Charlotte from Columbia, SC in 1988, then to Jacksonville, FL for 9 years, until we returned to Charlotte in 2011. I have been married for 30 years and have 4 wonderful children. Q: Why do you like working in real estate?
A: I have always been interested in real estate as my husband and I have bought, fixed up, and sold many houses over the years. I have really enjoyed working on the operations side of real estate, seeing the whole process of how homes are listed and sold, and all the hard work our agents put into taking care of their clients.

Q: What do you love about Charlotte?
A: Charlotte is a great place to live, work, and raise a family and I love the fact that you can get to the beach or mountains in a few hours.

Q: Something no one would guess about you?

Helen Jones

Upon graduating from college in 1964, I moved from Raleigh to Charlotte to teach elementary school. I taught for 5 years and raised 2 wonderful children with my husband in Charlotte. I also worked in a consignment retail shop for 23 years before coming to Cottingham Chalk. I am proud to say that I’ve grown with this family for the last 14 years and consider Cottingham Chalk home and the people who work here part of my family.

When not working, I enjoy reading, baking, playing Bridge, watching sports on TV, working puzzles and helping raise twin grandchildren.

Q: Why do you like working in real estate?
A: Working in a real estate office is exciting because there are so many people in and out, and each day is different. Cottingham Chalk has a very supportive management team and it’s like working for a big family.

A: Charlotte is an energetic place to live. It offers so much diversity, opportunity and entertainment.

Q: Something no one would guess about you?
