  • I backpacked for 6 weeks through Europe while in college using Frommer’s guide book Europe on $5 A Day. I wouldn’t get very far on that today!

  • A few years ago, I returned to Europe on a bike and barge trip. I cycled from Bruges, Belgium to Amsterdam.

ABOUT ME

Born in a small town in the Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York, I gradually made my way to Charlotte via Maryland. It didn’t take me long to realize that Charlotte is the perfect place to live – 2 hours from the mountains that I missed and 3 hours from the beach. I have now called Charlotte home for over 34 years.

I have been lucky enough to have had two fantastic careers. I started out as a teacher and reading specialist in Montgomery County MD Public Schools. When I moved to Charlotte, I worked 10 years as a third and fourth grade teacher at Charlotte Latin School. I love children and I never felt like I was going to “work”. It was a new adventure every day.

My second career evolved from my love of decorating. My husband and I always bought homes that had great bones but needed some help. We took down walls, added hardwood floors, crown moldings, changed out light fixtures, painted, etc. We did it all ourselves. We had the “vision” to see the potential of every home. I wanted to share that vision with other people. It was a hard decision to leave teaching, but, I decided to try my hand in real estate. I was accustomed to working in the best schools, so now I had to find the best real estate company in Charlotte. After interviewing with Cottingham Chalk, I didn’t even want to look elsewhere. I found my niche. Their philosophy to succeed is to do what is best for the client. That was how I wanted to do business. Twenty years later, I’ve never looked back, and, I’ve been a top producer each year. I love the challenge of helping my clients buy or sell a home. I approach each transaction with honesty and integrity and the client is my number one focus throughout. I love helping sellers stage their home for showings and I consider it a mission to find the “perfect” home for my buyers. I must be doing something right because I have clients who have bought and sold multiple homes with me over the last 20 years.

My business has spanned generations. When I first started in 1998, I worked with many parents of students I had taught. Now I am working with former students and friends of my sons who are starting families of their own. I am like a Mama Bear who is protecting her young. I make sure they are getting a good home for a fair price. And, my teaching skills still come into play in every transaction.

My family is the most important thing in my life. I love spending time with my husband and my two sons and daughters-in law. I thank God every day for my blessings.
