Summer is right around the corner ~ really just days away! With summertime, comes memories for many of us here at Cottingham Chalk, of wandering through crowded farmers’ markets or veering our cars quickly right, as we pull off to the side of the road for a little roadside stand. When you arrive there is something so magical about the aromatic smell in the air, the colorful varieties of fruit neatly displayed and for many markets some of the savory goodness of fresh meats & cheeses. So, where are the best places to go in Charlotte and what is on our shopping list

“For some, Memorial Day marks the beginning of Summer. For me, it’s the opening of the Kings Drive Farmer’s Market. Like a child awaiting Christmas morning, I count the days until the
farmer’s market is open. I love to browse the variety of flowers for planting and marvel at the beautiful and reasonably priced pre-arranged bouquets. I jump right in the hustle-bustle of shoppers going from stand to stand to purchase from the huge selection of fruits and
vegetables. I delight in the smell of the fresh melons, corn and cucumbers and never leave without a southern staple of boiled peanuts. The farmers market always reminds me of a simpler time. And, of course, there is the added benefit of supporting your local farmers. If you haven’t been in a while, check it out. It will not disappoint.” ~ Cindi Hastings
