FUN FACTS

  • It’s important to me to work for a company like Cottingham Chalk, where we always place our clients first and support one another in those efforts, where our agent’s and company’s reputation as caring and professional reflect the values that we hold together.

  • As a Charlotte native (and the son of 2 Charlotte natives), the city obviously holds a particular place in my heart and I’m constantly amazed at how (and where) it has grown over the years.
  • My favorite vacation spots include anywhere with big water, so naturally the Carolina beaches, Lake Michigan and Nantucket.

  • I’d be lying if I didn’t say working on one of my old houses or gardens, but would really like to spend more time working on my 1969 Datsun roadster—and buying more classic cars!
  • I am a trained Habitat for Humanity Global Village leader and have led a HFH trip to El Salvador, plus have participated on 3 other El Salvador trips. I’ve also traveled to Cuba as a mission volunteer.

ABOUT ME

Ed is proud to be a native Charlottean. He uses his knowledge of the area and its history to help his clients, whether newcomers or “naturalized” natives to find the perfect neighborhood and home. In addition to possessing a wealth of knowledge on the history of Charlotte and its neighborhoods, Ed approaches each transaction with a tremendous amount of patience and calmness, helping clients navigate today’s challenging markets. His expertise lies in his extensive market knowledge, preparation and attention to detail to deliver the best results to his clients (many with multiple transactions).

A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Economics/Political Science, Ed also received a M.S. in Architecture/Urban Planning from UNC Charlotte. After a successful career in technical sales in the 2 Carolinas, he wanted to be a participant in the exciting growth and change in Charlotte and follow his life-long interest in real estate. Cottingham Chalk offered the perfect match as a family-oriented and caring organization with values that aligned with Ed’s.

Ed has lived in Dilworth with his wife, Ellen, and daughters for over 30 years and just discovered that his house is at least 10 years older than previously thought (1923!). In his free time, Ed spends as much time outdoors as possible – walking in-town neighborhoods in the early mornings with his two 4-legged boys, gardening, tending his plot at the Dilworth Neighborhood Garden and of course working on his old house. When the heat sets in, Ed finds time to escape to west Michigan with his family to spend time in a quaint town working on yet another old house (1850’s!) and enjoying the Lake Michigan beaches near White Lake.
